Memory Bridge Talk
MEMORY BRIDGE TALK ON DEMENTIA TORONTO AUGUST 10, 2015
Meet Michael Verde, founder of Memory Bridge, published author, professional speaker and award-winning educator.
Michael Verde is coming to Toronto on Monday, August 10, 2015 (see details below) to share a way of being with people with dementia that diminishes their emotional and social isolation and that can transform the giving of instrumental care into the giving and receiving of spirit-sustaining love. Michael’s presentations are described as engaging, inspiring, and profoundly insightful.
Michael shares stories that demonstrate the importance of being with those with dementia, not only doing to and doing for them. “Caring,” he says, “is both a doing and a being verb. In addition to assisting us in our instrumental needs, the great givers of care enter into the world as we are experiencing it. They feel with us, and by connecting with our need they become living bridges to both our body and our spirit.”
“People with dementia can hear in our voices, see in our eyes, and feel in our touch just how much we genuinely respect and love them. And it’s our respect, attention, and love that heals the emotional isolation that dementia often causes.” – Michael Verde
