Enter the Lioness: Yoga Martial Arts

I embarked on Yoga Teacher training last spring and as we enter into Module 2, I can really feel the impact on my inner psyche – it seems a beautiful lioness is emerging!

My spiritual training had left me a little ‘up in the clouds’ at times!…  So this yoga practice and teacher’s training is the perfect adjunct to my spiritual work to create a more balance, grounded whole that I can offer to others.

Here are some pictures form my yoga journey so far…

YTT Yoga Teacher training at In the Spirit Yoga, Highland Creek, Ontario.

Now that we have entered Module 2, our practice takes on a more active stance with focus on standing postures, endurance and strength. I find myself becoming more and more grounded and challenged to be physically and mentally strong.

I see yoga as quite beautiful and graceful…  and powerful and protective:  the ham in me loves to express my inner magical child with whimsical postures like butterfly and deer pose, while my inner lioness likes to dare with her indomitable ‘don’t mess with me’ attitude in goddess, warrior or dragon pose.

Here are some pics from doing yoga at my previous retreats:

I’ve always loved movement, including dance, and more recently Nia (choreographed dance/fitness), and our extended ‘Yoga Martial Arts’ training which adds that other dimension of practical power and higher consciousness that is so rare in the yoga world.

Yoga can be very zen, and it can be very very powerful!

Krista doing Nia “jesus Christ Superstar” led by Sarah Jean Butler in Toronto.

We are only half way through our YTT training and already I feel that it is well worth the ride…

I see my life growing in this direction, with the goal of being an active and happy yogi well into old age…

And if I get to share and teach this along with my other gifts, well, that’s icing on the cake!

Yoga and the Buddha Stir Within

My Yoga Journey Begins…

In recent months, my journey has taken me to rediscover my love of yoga and some of its foundational philosophies. Although I am a channel and have access to Divine beings who guide me and my clients, I am always a firm believer in having one foot planted firmly on the ground….

and two hands reaching high to Heaven!

Part of my intention was to be able to integrate my body, go deeper into meditation and channel to create calm, peace and serenity. I do this brilliantly for my clients, but I was feeling the need to be more loving and gift this practice to myself, then share it with others.

I began my yoga journey in my late 20s doing Kundalini Yoga videos with Gurmukhi, with lavish backdrops of Hawaii or cool California studios. Then in 2011, I met Deb Niven, Visionary owner of In the Spirit Yoga studio, where I continued my journey of Hatha yoga, and began doing transformational workshops and retreats with her other company Divine Destination Collection.

Getting busier and doing more channelled hypnosis, healing and spiritual direction with clients and groups in Canada, U.S. and Tuscany, I began to lose sight of my need for physical “groundedness” with stretching, yoga and meditation. My channelling ability and metaphysical focus had me feeling a little lost in the physical world, and missing my yoga practice.

My colleague and co-channel and Full Immersion Into Spirit teacher, Elizabeth Rose, began channelling yoga from the Ascended Master realm, but with her being in New Brunswick and me in Toronto (with a lack of discipline!) I began to seek a practical way I could get started on my yoga path and then integrate this with my more metaphysical practices.

After seeing a notice for the third time (after two years of waiting), I finally picked up the sign and went back to In the Spirit for Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) with LefteriAlexander Petrogiani (Alx) of LifeCosmic.com. This intensive 9 month program includes all the Hatha variations including Kundalini and Yin Yoga (which is really the “tha” in Hatha), a hint of martial arts, and the science, discipline, philosophy and “consciousness of yoga” (including the groundbreaking little known gem, the Chup Sadhana (the Practice of Silence) by Mansoor, and the Bhagavad Gita, the jewel in the yoga crown.  And of course the most important part: practice practice practice!

Inspired by this yoga journey, I also became attracted to Eastern ideas and the life story of the Buddha, Siddharta Gautama (Gautama Buddha). I confess the source was a somewhat cheesy Bollywood looking rendition on Netflix, but don’t be fooled by the overblown acting in some cases, the main actor, Himanshu Soni, gives a captivating and powerful evocation of the Buddha consciousness, which is love and compassion.

Giving up worldly goods and renown, he retreats into the woods and surrenders completely to his path, becoming the epitome of “the middle way” of peace, sacrifice, and service. His love and devotion comes from dedicating himself to something inward rather than outward. And not stopping until Peace is found.

I hear you, Brother!

Although I may never live up to the high standards set for me by my noble and enlightened friends: Buddha, Christ, Babaji, Mahatma Gandhi, Paramahansa Yogananda and more, I will be richly blessed by studying them, hearing whispers of them when I channel, and living life through my lifelong yogic practice.

Who knows, maybe I will be channelling my Beloved Teachers, both physical and non-physical, when I marry my love of channelled healing and metaphysical hypnosis with the science, discipline and mystical art of yoga, becoming grounded like a tree firmly rooted in the West, reaching high to Heaven, God, the Universe and All.

Om Shanti (Peace).  Amen!

Latest Fall Retreat

This is another example of synchronicity at its best. I met Philip Young recently at a completely unrelated business meeting. Who would think a fellow healer from Wales would be amongst them? We got to talking, and realized a great synergy in our work and values. We planned to lead a healing retreat together somewhere in Ontario, but could not find a location to suit.

Within two days, a friend of his who happened to be doing a yoga retreat, suggested we join forces. And this is what resulted: a nearly sold-out yoga healing retreat at the most perfect time to enjoy the fall colours in Ontario, at a beautiful, private, holistic centre (The Lotus Heart Centre) not far from Toronto. This is what happens when you are in the mode of miracles. 🙂

What is Wisdom?

TODAY’S TEACHING on WISDOM

– channelled by Krista Moore

The ability to discern is based on true judgement, perception, ability, law, truth and justice. These are not to be confused with God – they are infused with Godly knowledge and the experiences of life which create opportunities to become more wise. Important for me is the ability to subdue the “passions” or emotions in an effort to use better judgement, based on intuitive knowing of the past, present and likely future. To subdue the ego, in other words, in favour of the spirit. That is divine wisdom and law as well.

I have acted desperately and have been prone to anger and averse reactions. My emotions get the better of me all the time. My task is to notice them and to breathe through them until they pass, and then to go deep within and ask, or know, where the truth lies. That is how I answer most of these questions. Sometimes I look outside myself, to the internet or books or CDs, or other teachings. But all of these together, become filtered through my consciousness and my awareness, and when I ask with the intention to have good judgement and be wise, better judgement and wisdom results. That is the path to wisdom.

Those who recognize wisdom know that it is not a common thing. When someone seems to understand or know things that the average person does not – when they do not jump to pettiness or judgement of others but have an ability to discern a case from many perspectives and see the bigger picture – that is wisdom – and from this positive action. If we do not take a moment to seek wisdom, we cheat ourselves and are a victim of emotion. Emotions are good to feel but are not a good judge of reality. We should not take them literally. Truth is unreal in this world, and no emotion points to it other than serenity –which is not an emotion at all but a true state of being. While in the illusion, we need wise teachers to point to another reality, and these are the wise ones we seek: the “Gurus” or enlightened beings.

It reminds me too that not all wise ones verbally teach. Some simply offer their presence, their serenity, their frequency, and uplift the others. Knowingness is silent, and does not pretend to know certain things. (worldly things). It just knows above and beyond all things (I am now getting into enlightenment, or Buddhahood or Christhood).

A realized one does not necessarily speak. They may exist on another plane, or simply exist to uplift and provide a beacon to others who are seeking. Their very presence stirs something beyond this world. A shift in consciousness is possible in their presence. We are not to kiss their feet (so to speak) but rise to their level of consciousness – they are pointers, not the “thing”. Jesus taught this by pointing to the Father, the One, he did not seek others to worship him; they sought him. He pointed to another reality, and started by teaching how to treat others in this one. Through love we ascend to oneness. We cannot ascend until we love each other. It is not every man (or woman) for himself. Forgivenss is the key. He taught with everyday language and used everyday symbols and situations to make it (fairly) obvious to those he was teaching. He pointed the way. His presence was also life-changing.

So this is a testament to my climb, or effort to reach and teach Buddhahood/Christ-Consciousness, and my human tendencies to destroy and condem and annihilate myself and others who upset me in any way. This battle can be observed instead of given in to. That is why they have brought me back to kundalini yoga and meditation. I will become an incredible observer, and a better teacher. I will be a better listener, and so a better witnesser, teacher, friend.

I will learn compassion, even for myself. I am getting better.

It is important to note that there is no wisdom without love. Love is true wisdom. Devotion and discernment. It sees the worthiness in everyone, and judges no one. It is calm and secure in the wisdom that all will be (elected) to be wise one day. All are worthy in God’s eyes. So wisdom and compassion are connected. When we discern, we discern with love and compassion, and this is what makes us wise.

Therefore there is no wisdom without love, and no judgement is true without wisdom. Wisdom is wise, and wisdom is true, and truth is always loving.

Amen.

– Krista Moore

Day 14: I Belong!

This morning I went to a yoga class I hadn’t been to in a while. That’s me, slipping in and out of things – alarming! Seriously, I ask myself, why do I get into things and then back away? I was even tempted to start all over – find another, better class; another, better teacher. But somehow, it all comes back to me. What am I so afraid of? That they won’t like me? That I won’t like them?

Are there really any better “anybodies” out there?…

I took a course last summer that changed my life – the Feminine Power series, with Katherine Woodward Thomas and Claire Zammit. I learned we women need to belong; we need to feel we are an integral part of something and that our contribution matters.  And our way of stopping that is to over-do and try to please others, while “sabotagingly” (yes, I invent words) neglecting our own needs, wishes, desires. Our own Power.  There are many ways this shows up:  perfectionism, fear of failure, wanting to be loved but pushing other people away ( “reject them first”), working too hard or hiding behind work (“maybe I’ll get promoted and then they’ll like me”); hiding behind other people who know more than we do; pretending to like things we don’t just to fit in; and sacrificing ourselves as a whole.  It doesn’t matter what it is; I saw “me” looking back at myself – backing away from things, from people, from life.  A lot of it, disturbingly, spoke to me.

The solution is obvious but alarmingly overlooked: there is nowhere else and nobody else to go but within my own self, to talk to that troubled girl and help her find her balance again. Her strength. We learned to make power statements that spoke to this deepest part, to stand in the strength of our best internal instincts – our fierce protection of what matters, just as we would protect a child. The part that cries “No!” or “Yes!” without any hesitation at all.  Or my way of saying it:

The Lioness in Us Will Never Lay Down

I Belong. I am an integral part of Life. I have a right to be here. My contribution matters. I matter. I am a unique, perfect and absolutely irreplaceable part of the Universe. I cannot be annihilated or forgotten. I Belong! Damnit!

So, today, as I walked back into that class, I hesitated at the door and said these simple words to myself first: “I Belong.” I breathed in and imaged all the pleasant faces I would encounter, and the energy I would have.  This is what I heard and saw upon entering:  my previous teacher sitting pleasantly with some others in a colourful room brightly lit, cheerful music playing, sunny smiles abounding, and her eyes happily lit:

“KRISTA!!!…. Oooh, Where have you been?!!…..”  (Her hands sweetly hugging her chest)… “We MISSED YOU!!!….”

I will never, never do that again. Assume I don’t belong. Or that they don’t want me.  I was wrong. Beyond wrong – because I missed out on their life, and they missed out on mine. I realized through their eyes, their smiles, how dynamic I was, how much I brought to them.

Whether you know it or not, whether people tell you or not, you are needed in this universe of things. I no longer seek another, better universe to belong to.  I Belong now. I’ll take this one, and – whether it pats me on the back or not – this one is more than happy to take me.
